A deluge system is a fire suppression setup built for high-hazard environments, where every open nozzle on the network discharges water or foam simultaneously the moment the system activates. Unlike a standard sprinkler system, where individual heads open only where heat is detected, a deluge system keeps every nozzle on the network open at all times. The pipework itself stays empty until a separate detection system, such as heat or flame detectors, triggers the deluge valve to open. Once triggered, water or foam floods the entire protected area at once, giving rapid, full-coverage suppression for risks where a fire could spread too fast for a standard sprinkler response to contain.
Deluge system design starts with a fire risk assessment of the specific hazard being protected, followed by hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizing, nozzle spacing, and the flow rate needed for full coverage. Detection method, valve type, and water or foam supply are all specified against the risk the system is protecting, not a standard template.
Installation covers the deluge valve, detection system, pipe network, and nozzles, along with connection to the water or foam supply and the fire pump system supplying it. Every installation is commissioned and pressure-tested before handover to confirm the system activates and discharges as designed.
Deluge systems need regular testing to confirm the detection system, valve, and nozzles all function correctly, since the system may sit inactive for long periods between triggers. Our maintenance visits include valve operation testing, detection system checks, and nozzle inspection, carried out under a scheduled AMC.
Testing confirms the deluge valve opens on demand, water or foam reaches full coverage across the protected area, and the detection system triggers the valve correctly. Results are documented to support civil defence inspection and Istifa certification.

A deluge system doesn't activate on its own; it depends on a separate detection method identifying the fire first.
