Novec 1230 is a clean agent fire suppression fluid — chemically known as FK-5-1-12 — developed by 3M as an alternative to older clean agents, offering fast, residue-free suppression with a shorter atmospheric lifetime than many other agents on the market. Installation starts with calculating room volume and identifying any leakage paths, since Novec 1230 has to reach and hold a specific concentration in the space to suppress a fire effectively. We size the cylinder bank, run distribution piping to the nozzles, wire in detection and the control panel, and commission the system fully before handover, confirming it will discharge correctly and reach suppression concentration if triggered.
Once a Novec 1230 system discharges, the cylinders need refilling before the room is protected again, and we handle that refilling directly rather than routing it through a third party. Scheduled maintenance covers cylinder pressure and weight checks, detection device testing, and control panel function, so the system stays ready to discharge correctly rather than quietly drifting out of spec between checks.
